I learned pinwheels!

So these came next...have to say they were a lot simpler than I thought they would be thanks to using this amazing guide on youtube:

Thank you so much for that Misssouri Quilt Co!

I want to experiement with some different colour combos soon. I got loads of 4.5 X 2.5 rectangles off ebay so I have been enjoying making up squares to use with these- as you can see in the second cushion cover. I love using whites with brights, got something in progress with lots of bright colours. More to come!

My first quilting post...the work so far Pt. 1

So, first I made the most appalling and imperfect memory quilt for my sister from all her (and mine- hand-me-downs) childhood clothing. I promise I'll post a picture of it one day but my mum has them all. Thankfully, she loved it.

Then, 18months later, I bought some pre-cut patchwork squares from Ebay and had a go, made a couple of (very basic) cushion covers for my friends and a felt monster or two.

Next, I got fed up with the limited choice of pre-cut squares and got myself some fabric stash. But I wasn't very good at measuring nor cutting. So...I saved up all my pennies and bought an Accuquilt Go! Baby fabric cutter and since then I have been busy busy busy.

It started with squares and stripes:

Then, I learned log cabin. I love this method for using up scraps and strips of fabric I would otherwise throw away.

The backing for this one...tiny kitties!

I think (hope!) I've got a kind of English rose/cottage inspiration...though as the second example shows, I can't hide my love for colour. Everything is on a budget so although I buy top quality fabric- I just have to do so in small quantities! I live in just one room too so everything has it's place.

Thank goodness the Go! Baby folds away. :-) More pictures tomorrow...
